Interior

Salomão's first solo album, Interior is, in his own words, "the record that tells my story so far". Playing alone is also the most exposed condition there is for a pianist: "it's like walking on stage completely bare, with nothing in between — so it will always be a challenge, and always new."

There are seven original compositions, and several carry the name of what shaped him. Caboclinho Armorial comes from Ariano Suassuna; Grandes Sertões: Veredas, from Guimarães Rosa. Seu Soares e Dona Branca no Forró is for his parents, who took him to the country dances of inland Paraíba and danced with their small son in their arms — the taste for Northeastern swing comes from them.

Two reinterpretations complete the album: Fátima, by Hermeto Pascoal, and Desafinado, by Tom Jobim and Newton Mendonça. The record was toured solo across Europe and acclaimed by the Japanese press.
