The recording
Recorded with Paulinho Vicente (drums) and Felipe Brisola (double bass), Espirais takes to the trio the language that Interior explored alone.
All ten compositions are new, and most of them begin in a tribute or a place. Luzes do Carmo is dedicated to Egberto Gismonti, one of his greatest influences. Espirais, the title track, came from Van Gogh’s The Starry Night; Dalí, from the Spanish painter’s surrealist canvases. Teleférico was born on a trip to La Paz, Bolivia.
The album also features American saxophonist Seamus Blake on “Flutuar” and Stephanie Borgani on “Dalí”. It was recorded on November 7 and 8, 2022, at Estúdio Gargolândia.
