Espirais
Recorded with Paulinho Vicente (drums) and Felipe Brisola (double bass), Espirais takes to the trio the language that Interior explored alone. For Salomão, the most classic jazz format is also the one that opens the most paths: "it's when I most enjoy improvising. On this project, all original material, I tried to bring in as few pre-written arrangements as possible, so the musicians could create freely, bringing their own identity to the pieces."
All ten compositions are new, and most of them begin in a tribute or a place. Luzes do Carmo is dedicated to Egberto Gismonti, one of his greatest influences. Espirais, the title track, came from Van Gogh's The Starry Night; Dalí, from the Spanish painter's surrealist canvases. Teleférico was born on a trip to La Paz, Bolivia.
The album also features American saxophonist Seamus Blake on Flutuar and Stephanie Borgani on Dalí. It was recorded at Estúdio Gargolândia.
