The recording
Piano and voice is one of the oldest formats in popular music — and one of the most exposed. With no drums and no bass, every choice shows.
The duo’s first album with Vanessa Moreno, Chão de Flutuar looks for those limits on both sides: the voice used as body and percussion too, and the piano explored through timbre and attack, beyond melody and accompaniment.
The repertoire spans Tom Jobim, Milton Nascimento, Djavan, Egberto Gismonti, Guinga, Dominguinhos, Edu Lobo and Geraldo Vandré, and leaves room open for improvisation between the two. Recorded at Estúdio Gargolândia.
